I need to say this, just to put it out there.

I have sickle cell if you’ve been reading my diary, you should already know that. What some people don’t know about sickle cell is that there’s a real possibility that a patient can have a stroke. Honestly, it’s one of the common ways people with sickle cell die.

People like to call us “warriors,” but I don’t think we’re warriors. This thing causes intense pain that kills people. There’s nothing “warrior-like” about that.

Imagine having sickle cell and then also having a stroke, not being able to move or respond to anything. That’s hell. Then someone has to bathe you, feed you, and clean you if it gets that serious. That’s losing your dignity completely.

This may sound selfish, and maybe it is, but I’m not going to live with sickle cell and also be stuck in one place for the rest of my life, waiting for God to “call” me. That’s not happening.

Just do me a favour and end me.
